Words

Underneath the words that slice
Hidden deep from view
Beneath the flesh and bones that break
Words pierce, like a tattoo

When the words have found a lair
A hollowed home to dwell
Wounds of scorn crust into shame
Inside their prison cell

When the words are all used up
There's nothings more to say
Pierced into the psyche
Etched in stone they'll stay

My Neighbor

This is sad but true

I watch you
push your walker
down the driveway
to your mailbox.

Your purple hat swivels
as your eyes strain
to see
if I'm home.

I stand by the window
anticipating your knock
as you make your way
to my front door.

I wonder what
it could be today.
Another ride to the doctors
or the hair salon?

Maybe just to cry
again on my doorstep
because you haven't
slept a wink
and you need groceries
but your family
is too busy
to take you?

I wonder why
they won't help
their ninety-one year old
mother
and what you did,
if anything,
to deserve such treatment.

As you sit
at my kitchen table
 I jot down
your grocery list
Then help
you into my car

The Life of a Flower

Happy Spring:)

Green stretching arms,
Up from the ground.
Bright colored faces,
Clowning around.
Gently waving
At the morning sun.
The life of a flower
Has just begun.

Endless Skies

Madrigal....inspired by Leanne....I'm sure it's not correct but I gave it a try

Adrift in a sea of endless skies
The sun and the moon each take a turn
Playing the game of hide and go seek

As the sun slides west beneath the Earth
The moon fills the sky with twinkling lights
Adrift in a sea of endless skies
The sun and the moon each take a turn

As the sun seeks the moon, the moon hides
And the moon lets the sun catch a glimpse
Before it fades into another day
Adrift in a sea of endless skies
The sun and the moon each take a turn
Playing the game of hide and go seek

Captain Of The Toes

Revising some stuff

We're going to the market!"
Yelled the biggest piggy toe.
"So get your piggy's moving,
Cause I'm Captain of the Toes!"

"You're not the boss of me!"
Cried piggy number two.
"I'm gonna stay at home
And there's nothing you can do!"

"I'm so very hungry!"
Snorted piggy number three.
"I need a roast beef sandwich
And a nice hot cup of tea."

"I do not like roast beef
And the market isn't fun."
Piggy number four whined,
"So I guess that I'll have none."

Take me!  Take me!  Take me!
At the market I shall roam
And the littlest piggy squealed,
"Wee!  Wee!  Wee!" all the way home.

The Poetry Eye-Roll Poem

For Stephan;)

If you poetry eye-roll me
I'll pull your eyes out through your ears
And shove them up your nostrils
Until each eyeball disappears

So then your snotty eye-roll
Is right where it should be
Deep inside your snot fields
And cannot bother me

Booger Salad

I made myself a salad
As healthy as can be
Chopping up some veggies
Cause they're good for me

As I tossed the salad
A sneeze snuck up on me
Now my sneezed on salad is
As boogery as can be

Mr. Crump Broke His Rump

Mr. Crump jumped a jump
Landing with a thudding thump.
He hit a bump on the jump,
Tumbling on his tender rump.

Mr. Crump felt the thump
And the bumping on his rump,
When he jumped that bumpy jump.

That is how he broke his rump.

Greed

I watch you search through the contents
Of your mothers jewelry box
Keeping  the best for your daughters
And offering the junk to mine
As if her Nana loved her less

I see the hurt in her eyes
And the grief on her face
But you only see diamonds and gold
Wrapped around your fat finger
And I hope it cuts off your circulation

February's Winds

February's winds weep
As hungry lions creep
And Sheppard's keep watch over their flock

While the little lambs sleep
The promises they keep
Tames lions with a tick of the clock
