The Easter Candy Creeper...just a little Easter fun:)

The Easter Candy Creeper

The Easter candy creeper
Is a candy stealing sneak
He’ll swipe your Easter candy
He’s an Easter candy freak

He’ll find your Easter basket
Suck up every jelly bean
Gobble all the chocolate eggs
He’s an Easter candy fiend

He’ll steal your Easter goodies
Munch all the marshmallow peeps
Gulp down your chocolate bunny
He’s the sneakiest of creeps

When the candy has been eaten
He saves the best for last
Licks every shiny wrapper
Then eats the Easter basket grass

Beware your Easter basket
From the Easter candy freak
For the Easter candy creeper
Is a candy stealing sneak

Like a Leaf

Like a leaf
tumbling
haphazardly
upon the mercy and whim
of something
that can’t be seen
or touched
I feel its breath
pushing me
forward
then changing directions
and pulling me
back
to where I started
to begin again
mixing words
and colors
into gold
before I’m bagged up
and thrown away
to decay
as compost

Wishing Pole

I've been laying low and out of sorts. This is the first thing I've written in a while.

I made myself a wishing pole
and cast with all my might
up into the heavens
upon a starry night

I baited it with faith and hope
then gazed up at the moon
waiting for a nibble
surely I’d catch one soon

I cranked the reel, took up the slack
and cast it out again
talked with God and Jesus
and then I said amen

I felt my pole begin to bend
I saw it snap in two
from too many wishes
not every wish comes true

I made another wishing pole
I’ve learned from my mistake
if you really want it
your dream is yours to make

Forked Tongue

As you rattle and hiss
coiled up in  lies
I wonder if spite
has forked your tongue
and I can only imagine
how sharp your fangs are

The Creepy Christmas Creeper

Happy Holidays:)

The creepy Christmas creeper
lurks inside my Christmas tree
out of sight behind the lights
waiting to scare me

He scurries through the branches
promenading as he goes
over the gleaming garland
creeping among the bows

From atop the shining star
He dangerously dangles
like a creepy ornament
hanging webs in tangles

Clinging from the candy canes
he spins his threads of torment
wraps the sweets with sticky strings
like a creepy present

He weaves all day and all night
my Christmas tree is gnarled
from the creepers creepy mesh
knotted up and snarled

Beware the Christmas creeper
for the creeper never sleeps
creeping around your Christmas tree
giving the Christmas creeps

Kisses Of Summer

Lullaby whispers
of September skies
innocent and blue
like newborns eyes

Echo’s of warm days
bring crisp chilly eve’s
kisses of summer
make autumn’s bright leaves

Your Age By Eating Out

This works:)

YOUR  AGE BY EATING OUT

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway-but

your waiter may know!

YOUR AGE BY DINNER & RESTAURANT MATH

This is pretty neat

DON'T  CHEAT BY  SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!

It takes less than a minute. Work this out  as you read.
 (You may need a calculator)!

Be sure  you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!

This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1.  First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to go out to eat.

(more than once but less than 10)

2.  Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3.  Add 5

4.  Multiply it by 50

5.  If you have already had your birthday this year add 1758...

If  you haven't, add 1757.

6.  Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number.

( I. e., How many times

you want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

The next two numbers are. . . .

YOUR  AGE !!! -- (Oh YES, it is!)

THIS  IS THE ONLY YEAR (2008) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT  LASTS

I'd Like To Be...

I keep adding more crap to this;)

I’d like to be an Eagle
Soaring through the sky
Gliding on a swift breeze
But I’m afraid to fly

I’d like to be a Peacock
As proud as proud can be
Strutting my bright feathers
But I’m too shy you see

I’d like to be a wolf
I’d growl and I’d bark
Howling at the full moon
But I’m afraid of the dark

I’d like to be a lion
The King of Beast I’d be
But my mom says I’m allergic
And cats aren’t good for me

I’d like to be a Kangaroo
And jump around the town
Bouncing on my springy feet
But I’m afraid that I’ll fall down

I’d like to be a Zebra
Running wild and free
A black and white stallion
But stripes don’t flatter me

I’d like to be a dolphin
I’d swish my tail and jet
Down deep into the ocean
But I don’t like being wet

I’d like to be a Billy Goat
And see the mountain sights
I’d trot straight up the steepest slopes
But I’m afraid of heights

I’d like to be a pig
And munch on food all day
Rolling in the filthy mud
But what would people say?

I’m glad that I am me
Just the way I am
I wouldn’t want to be
Anything but what I am

on Jul. 31 2008

I have a question and I’m hoping someone might know the answer.

I’d like to incorporate the “Hokey Pokey” into a children’s book I’m revising.  I would change it to the “Petunia Pokey” and change a few lines here and there.  I’ve researched it a little and found this:

The Hokey Cokey or Hokey Pokey is a participation dance with a .... is regarded as a traditional song and is therefore free of copyright restrictions

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about copyright and permission.

Thanks

Stained-Glass

Behind the stained-glass windows
the shadows flock within
beyond the hues of muted panes
they hang their heads in sin

When the shadows kneel and pray
to cleanse their sins away
they sing and read the book of psalms
to sin another day

When the prayers are all used up
the shadows bleat and dwell
beyond the shards of muted panes
inside their stained-glass hell
