More in The Pin-Up Files A Plethora of Pin-ups from the 1930's-1950'sFrom playing cards to calendars, fruit crate labels, to magazine covers, artists such as Alberto Vargas and George Petty wowed the sons of the fathers, who'd adored the "Gibson Girl's", by consistently creating more beautiful women than God.
I'll cover almost every pin-up artist's work and every genre- from the strange and silly, to the elegant and playful. Pin-ups express a range of feminine traits filtered through a screen of voyeuristic sexuality (as interpreted through mostly masculine eyes, though there were and are female artists). And these days pin-ups are popular again. Brief commentary will accompany the work. Have fun, some of them are a hoot.
