Grits are good too, but they're a notch below cream of wheat. I think it's important to corrupt your children with your notion of righteous foods. And, also, how to say them.
For example: Scallops should be said with SKAHL-ups not SKAL-opps

Julie: Is it just me or are "Corn Pops" just an excuse to have popcorn for breakfast?

I like Cream of Wheat, Farina, Oatmeal. I even like grits. In all of them, I like lumps. I like blueberries and almonds and cinnamon in my hot cereals.
But for me, cereals are for weekdays. Sundays are all about the egg. I had mine this morning, made by my husband, sunny-side up with a small whole grain bagel and maple flavored bacon. There's coffee, too, though I don't think I've had my fill yet - my eyes are only half open.

Tracey: You and Ellen would get alone famously. She is a firm believer in the holiness of morning coffee and the delights of sunnyside up eggs. Personally, I do not like my eggs runny. I like them solid, though not completely welldone. I suppose you might say I like my egg yolks medium. Runniness in an egg yolk is just less than ideal though, it doesn't completely gross me out.
To completely gross me out with an egg one must use ketchup. EWwwwww

Corn Pops: popcorn with massive amounts of sugar for breakfast, yes. I prefer my popcorn corrupted with butter and salt, please.
Out of curiosity, how should "pecan" be pronounced?
Tracey: I usually do eggs on sunday too...

I hate runny eggs! That mucousy looking slime can make me gag if I think about it enough. Blegh! My eggs have to be on the solid side.
Hey, what's wrong with ketchup on scrambled eggs? Or on hash browns that get mixed up with some sunny sides or over easies? Hrmm? Or how about a taylor-egg-cheese on a hard roll, with salt-peppa-ketchup? Or is that just a Jersey thing?

ketchup + egg = blech.
yes, even scrambled egg.
My in-laws swear by the egg on hard roll thing. (they call them jersey rolls as they're hard to find up here)

I have no idea what cream of wheat might be... is it like porridge? Porridge is yum, especially with brown sugar or golden syrup or something equally molasses-y and sweet. I steer away from prepackaged breakfast things, I like my sugar to be clearly visible.
And eggs sunny-side-up are for lazy people who can't flip them over without breaking the yolk. You people are gross. For the record, bacon should have more pink than white in it and should never swim in grease. And nothing in the world beats Vegemite on toast.

" To completely gross me out with an egg one must use ketchup. EWwwwww "
I don't know how I missed that comment before... I totally must have ketchup on my scrambled eggs. That's an absolute MUST.
May you be grossed out completely.
That is all.
(btw, "P'con")

1.) eggs & ketchup. the debate rages on in the wilds on MT too. my father and sister are firm believers in the eggs to ketchup ratio. my momma & i aren't big egg eaters (and neither is j), so ketchup on eggs just seems gross... hashbrowns... well that's another battle.
2.) my momma (who is from the south) says that the "proper" way to say pecan is PA-kahn. then again maybe that's a virginia thing because my montana sister, fiance, father, neighbors, etc... say PEE-kahn. and i am the weirdo who says PEE-can. :D
3.) sunny side up eggs. if i eat them, i like omlettes or scrambled with pepperjack and cheddar. my father will eat them almost any way. i cannot abide by runny eggs AT ALL. gee-rosss!!! blech!
4.) what is a "corn pop" ?? is it like the, alas, now defunct "smacks"??
5.) cream of wheat. lumpy or not lumpy. haven't had any since i was something in the neighborhood of 3. so no opinion. BUT ON GRITS... ewwww. i hate, hate, HATE grits... and in alabama they put them as a side on EVERYTHING and i cannot stand it. you ask for NO GRITS, they look at you weird, but write it down anyway and then.... BRING YOU GRITS!!!! ARRRRRGGGGHHH!! i do not like grits sam i am.
6.) i agree with anstey: SKAHL-ups sounds about right.
7.) not a big fan of the vegimite either...
8.) i LOOOVVVEE oatmeal... with cinnamon-sugar and a splash of pure cream... ohhh. heavenly.
9.) now that we have solved the "pecan" pronounciation war, perhaps you all could help me with a battle up here... the word "SODA" vs. "POP"... my family says soda, the fiance's pop, and some of our friends just call everything "coke"... even if they want 7-UP.... your takes ??

I lurv me sum lumpy cream of wheat! Which, alas, makes me somewhat of a pariah in the Land of Grits.
No one else here goes for 'em. But I think I might convince the baby. It'd be nice to have someone here that agrees with me!
