Colleen - I am not familiar with this singer/songwriter so I may be missing the connection there however I find this poem can stand on its own.
one thing I liked most was the idea of "each turn a prayer" to mother, to awaken, to calm .. and the way "have mercy" repeats with each tracing of the circle and then the last line "again" I found your poem to be very visual and well done.
Anstey - I like the sort of Kyrie-Hail Mary crocheting of words. It's pretty interesting to me. I felt like there are some connections that aren't quite there, but it's probably just me. THe line that i liked best was L7 - the pity line. However, I really wished you tied it back to the hands a tiny bit more. It seemed somewhat disjointed to me.
