have mercy

 I am not familiar with this singer/songwriter so I may be missing the connection there however I find this poem can stand on its own.   

one thing I liked most was  the idea of "each turn a prayer" to mother, to awaken,  to calm .. and the way "have mercy" repeats with each tracing of the circle  and then the  last line "again"   I found your poem to be very visual and well done.
