Thalamus

Stigmata Diabolic

I feel the sub-woofer of impending doom

It’s slow

Rumbling beat

Cascades through my right mind

The touch of its cold tendrils
Tugs at my eye

Like a disturbed child
Trying to get back it’s favourite toy

At times
I am assailed by the increased pitch of tweeters

As the searing pain
Screams like a stuka in a steep dive

My keel rocks in the shockwaves
As they join hands
With the constant bass beat

I cannot think
Cannot even write
Not with my normal sense of conviction

All I can achieve
Is a low moan
As if trying to counterpoint the torrent of pain

In sympathy
My left hand lies limp
Curled into a flaccid semblance of life

Are we surprised by this?

No

For it was part of my right mind
And now

Well

Now it feels
The beginning of the end

Your work definitely has improved since I got to read it last. (Which was probably 2 years ago almost?)  The first line had me laughing right off the bat - had me thinking of the people that drive through our area with their car stereos turned up very loud and rumbling - you can hear them coming from far off.   I know that music messes me up when I'm trying to write and makes me completely useless.  That's kinda the frame of mind this poem put me in.  Excellent job!!

And yes - we need a viking raid - only we have to abduct Romeo first and then we have to find a virgin - cuz I'm all out!  I don't think Pedi is usable for that role anymore.      So have you set up a Smexi plex here?

Also, I checked out your personal site and I really liked your visual poetry - Distant Shores.  That was just awesome!  I hope I can get my work back up to speed - it appears that I'm going to have to catch up with you in skill level! hahaha lol

He he, laughs weren't quite what I was going for, though at least the image I was creating for that first line worked!
