Shakespeare's Monkeys

Infinite Monkeys. Infinite Typewriters.

More in Because I need inspiration (and practice)!

I am

From the challenge at: Fill in the blanks
I am a waxing moon, silver sliver promising dawn,
I wonder of the morning star (how I wonder who you are)
I hear questions with answers that I can not know, yet
I see all I need begin to grow.
I want to set your soul aglow.
I am the rising tide pushed by primal command
I pretend to sparkle and shine, (to be something more benign)
I feel a tempest brewing beyond the horizon
I touch depths you can not imagine
I worry you’ll drown in this passion
I cry.
I am of the bone that birthed the mother of men.
I understand what is forbidden (the story wasn’t as written).
I say words often punished, still I must speak
I dream of rouge upon my cheek
I try to tempt you to take a peek.
I hope for mangos, magnolias, and a tribe in which to believe
I am above all, a daughter of Eve.

I am...knocked out by the beautiful imagery and references to feminine energy here and all that it evokes within me. There is poetry that makes me thinks, and poetry that touches my heart, and poetry that touches my soul. This is soul touching.

This may be more practice than poem to you, but I'll offer some feedback anyway.  There's just one line that feel almost too soft: "I want to be abundant, round, a glow." Everything else - wowsa.
