Forever Beautiful

Where the whole world is made of glass
they painted a box
to be my home.
& there in my pretty box
I played with rag dolls
& put pins through the tips of my fingers
& through the centre of my eyes.
I kissed photographs
of all the people I once knew
& then burned them over blue flamed candles,
silently saying goodbye
to a life left behind.

I carved patterns in my skin
& stopped eating,
to be forever beautiful.
I pretended I could see
my scarred reflection in the looking glass.
I chewed off my own tongue
to stop the lies I could tell
& pushed needles into my ears
to silence the lies I would hear.
Then I played with my rag dolls,
pretending I was as pretty as they
& I drew pictures of the things
happeneing in my head.
Deaf, mute and blind, I waste away,
in my pretty little box,
where the whole world is made of glass,
forever alone,
forever beautiful.
