Shakespeare's Monkeys

Infinite Monkeys. Infinite Typewriters.

More in But April brought rain

The last place I looked

He used to leave
little yellow post-it's
before he left for work.

Always in places
he knew I would find them.

The scribbled hello's
never seemed heartfelt

until he stopped sending them.

Excellent.  I love this poem.  very simple with a wry, touching ending.

Thank you Derma.

Hi Amanda. I agree with Derma. The ending gives this piece substance, a poignancy laced with wry & dry.

A couple of suggestions:
the plurals (post-its & hellos) don't require apostrophes.

never seemed hearfelt:
that line might be as effective if you left out 'seemed'? Without it, the effect of the sentiment is applied to both parties (not 'felt' by either heart).

I did wonder about the final line -- it seems ironic that post-it notes are not sent (by post), but left, as your first line suggests. I guess that last line plays on the inherent ambiguity, so I won't mention it

I don't see a recent/new comment, edit or 'history' link, so I'm not sure why this appeared in the 'latest threads' listing, but that's probably a good thing, at least for me, so I won't mention that either...
