Hi Amanda. I agree with Derma. The ending gives this piece substance, a poignancy laced with wry & dry.
A couple of suggestions:
the plurals (post-its & hellos) don't require apostrophes.
never seemed hearfelt:
that line might be as effective if you left out 'seemed'? Without it, the effect of the sentiment is applied to both parties (not 'felt' by either heart).
I did wonder about the final line -- it seems ironic that post-it notes are not sent (by post), but left, as your first line suggests. I guess that last line plays on the inherent ambiguity, so I won't mention it
I don't see a recent/new comment, edit or 'history' link, so I'm not sure why this appeared in the 'latest threads' listing, but that's probably a good thing, at least for me, so I won't mention that either...
