Megan said, "that one is pretty,"
she is so little

yes, I think, quartz,
even imperfect,
shined is pretty
like a diamond

i think
a hard body
by a soft body
under thick clay

in the sunlight,
Megan's smile

a tigerlily moans an orange moment

for a moment,
i listen to the tall grass
as it riffs a jazzy snare
against the breeze

the long roots silent against stone

For this we speak our hearts
sell our words,

Become earth instead,
a foundation for hoofbeats
for the worn soles of brown leather shoes

Megan smiles,
and i know
she is so young
she does not understand

finger tips, arms
each other

the tracks that moles will leave
and the endless beauty of a crystal

formed over years

we each take one of her hands
and swing her between us

as we walk.

This is just beautiful.  I wish I could be more analytical, but it overwhelms me.

THank you so much Norm.
