Shakespeare's Monkeys

Infinite Monkeys. Infinite Typewriters.

More in Painfully grinding back into gear

watching her let go

I felt like posting this old one after reading Mr. Sandman [article=8789] by Sinnaminsun.

Sunrise left me stranded chill breath breaks frost
Steely eyes watch you depart his touch
Pine needles in my blurred vision sting
A river of rain painfully washes over

Motionless frozen to earth swaying with the trees
Imprinted my mind laughter an echo
Knocking me over once more slighted by joy
Rotting within my broken illusions cut

Turning to depart looking back once more
Your voice a whisper eyes burning my soul
Into the night escape the memory
Swallowed by the dark buried by shadows

I abandon hope and depart from tears
That were foolishly spent wasted on you

I didn't know my poem "Mr. Sandman" was still posted here...Anyway I enjoyed reading your poem and especially liked this stanza:

Turning to depart

looking back once more

Your voice a whisper

eyes burning my soul

Into the night

escape the memory

Swallowed by the dark

buried by  shadows
