reflections on a river

drafty draft

My legs are wide
where the river loves the clouds

my scarlet scarf
is just the last bit
of my soul
wet from from your rain
resting around the reflection
of my shoulders here
before the falls

the gulls cry
even here, miles from the sea,
life
life
life

"Cry for me," I tell them.

Enlightenment is the rush
the flow of melted snow
demanding steady progress
to anywhere else but here

my navy slacks
are just the first skin
of my hope
wet from your rain
embracing the reflection
of my legs here
before the falls

the gulls fly
even here, miles from the sea,
death
death
death

"Soar for me," I beg them.

oh mountain,
where are you, my friend?

this roar of water is your call
this present is your truth
Life
Death
Gulls & Me.
