These lungs simply do not cope
Raised in too clean a home
Immunity to simple irritants
Struggles at best

Then there's the air-conditioning
That grand
Organised
Recirculation of casually cast off
Disease ridden breath
Too hot
Too cold
Always too dry

Let's not forget tar
The bane of mammoths
Sordid offspring of my addiction

My breath curdles with its stench
As these pitiful sacs rasp through life

One more I say

How much is too much you say

Well

Here I sit on the bus
Pondering another shitty day at work
The return to it all tomorrow

Counting the cost of various suicidal plans
Deciding in the end
That this remnant of my suicidal tendencies
Will never be enough
