before her second love

draft 1

i heard prince charming weep
beside the concrete trees
and the branches of copper

when my princess told him
his kiss had no magic
on her sultry red lips

his brown eyes caught
in a web of red
a waiting meal for some harder soul

so it was pity, him
in purple, me crowned
in her sweet love.

i thought about the tower
where she sleeps
and dreams of tulips

her long hair
golden in the western sun
silver in the morning

the way she rules
the almosts , the maybes
the only ifs

her decrees of giggles
and solemn vows
of yes daddy dear

i say nothing
as prince charming disappears.
silence is my duty.

i saw him later, lost
along some busy avenue
running against traffic

his legless steed was broken
without her heart, i think
perhaps he knew

it was never love
only necessity and soft music
i won't ask him

As a devotee of these kinds of stories, I just love this.
