Rubber ducky
Used to be the one
Floating plump with air
Vibrant yellow
Safety orange beak smiling
Blue eyes peeking out

Smooth plastic
Made in China
Leaded but light
Gliding over clear waters

Then an unremarkable day
Flatness overcame
Emotion evaporated
And he sank
A blurred yellow memory
Stuck to the bottom of old enamel

Here we go again! Everyone talks about their rubber ducky. Men talk about it. Women mention it. Teens blush at it. Tots brag about it.
How come I never had one? Am I the only one in the world? I'm not sure whether I was a deprived child, or they just didn't make 'em back then.
