These days innocence is lost in original sin like
change
through a hole in a pocket.
We hydroplane through repetitive motion:
Injuries notwithstanding, we
wander carpal tunnels,
not alone
but acting it.

These days people avert
their eyes,
vision dodging oncoming traffic but praying for collision,
a vacuumed juggernaut charge
frantic and determined as a postal shooter.

These days a silver platter isn't necessary,
but contact would be nice:
strangers' candy is always sweetest,
but strangers are transparent.

This is "progress:"
gadgets that cleave the world to scraps
more than any line or blade could hope.
Welcome to innovation:
'Bienvenidos connecion!
This is safety and solace.

These days everything comes for free-
yet what is worth the trouble?
We rarely fly these days, for lack
of trying.
