Tödliche Liebe

Only my head lies visible
Haloed in wan moonlight

My eyes dart left and right
Prey to visions
Yet blind to the vista before me

All you can judge
Is sadness
The eternity of sorrow in these eyes

She watches

Night insects parade
The chitinous skitter of beetles
Gnawing through my cheeks
Ignored by me
As glibly as the moth laying eggs on my brow

Time

Moves on without meaning
Something others mark
Whilst I decay
Little more than a parched husk
My withered body hanging limp
Unseen
Encased gently in this bed of sand

She notes the momentary flutter of joy
As the remains of my muscles contract
Deaths multiple orgasm
Revealing the forbidden colours of my love

My eyes snap open
Full of realisation

This is but my nightly dream

I return to sleep

She watches

Only my head visible
Haloed in wan moonlight
