Formaldehyde's leprous perfume
Holds fast the stench of love
The bonds that impel us
This brazen wound of augury

Which

With such imperious impropriety
Bodes such ill fortune upon us
Who scrabble about
Oblivious to all peril
Our eyes long atrophied by sight
Mind inured to reason

Paying mere lip service to animal instinct
We utter professions of  obedience
Allied with promises already proscribed
Intent on our meanest proclivities

Still

This ordure of affection

This affectation

Must decay
