The Color of My Truck

“pink?” he inquired

“magenta actually” she replied

“and quite vibrant”

“it still runs right?” he asked

“perfectly well” she answered

“hasn’t it been broken up

some, with a few dents

even?” he persevered

“yes” she said “it has even been

patched in a few places”

“mines black” he offered “and

really quite sluggish, barely

gets me where I’m going, much

less back home”

“I know” she parried “I don’t

understand how you operate

without hope. Black

hearts don’t get you

far, that’s why

mine is pink”
