More in Form poetry

Abandoned Barn Deep in the Woods

can you tell me what forms were merged to make this poem?

Abandoned, surrounded by crawling vines,
Buried deep in the trees. Powerful pines
Cover the trail that once showed signs
Designating life. What secrets could one find
Exploring the ancient pieces left behind.
Formulating pictures in inquiring minds,

Guessing at lives, trying to read their minds.
Hoeing gardens, chopping wood, clearing vines,
Investing in the future to not be left behind.
Jargon foreign to our ears whispers in the pines,
Kindred spirits of old just trying to find
Like souls who may have left little signs,

Muffled voices on the wind, looking for signs,
Never quite clear to the inquiring minds.
Oracle not present, nor one can we find,
Pulling through the thick, dense vines,
Questioning if answers can be found in the pines.
Rebuilding a dream that was left behind,

Searching for clues, we always look behind
Thickly clouded dreams, unfolding signs
Until pieces of the puzzle are found in the pines.
Validating the visions of inquiring minds,
Wishing for more knowledge from growing vines.
Xenophobia never even enters our minds,

Yearning for answers, needing to find
Zephyr of inspiration, so we look behind
Another mass of clinging, protective vines.
Buried treasure of implements leads to more signs
Catapulting our ever inquisitive minds,
Daring to hope what we’ll find in the pines.

Every thick stand of vigilant pines
Folds over secrets for someone to find.
Graciously guarding, no they don’t mind
Harboring secrets that are left behind
Inadvertently revealing small intricate signs
Just look carefully under thick vines.

Kidskin found in the pines, a remnant left behind.
Looking deeper to find some other small sign
Mulling it all over in our minds as we hack through vines.

wow..  I just wanted to say that I enjoyed this.. I don't know much about poetry forms but I think one of the forms used was an acrostic!!!

Thank you so much! You are right, that is one of the three forms merged to write this. I will give it until tomorrow and if no one else reads or guesses I will tell you the other two used!

I'm actually going to look up a few forms... I really should become more familiar with them... I never thought to use more than one form... is that common??

It actually started with a challenge between Pags and Leanne then more of us joined in. It was only sonnets in the beginning but I think I broke the mold when I did an acrostic with the entire alphabet in sonnet form. Now I have gone crazy and have been experimenting. It is an acrostic/sonnet starting with 'z' and going to 'a' after that and now this one. I will go ahead and tell you. This one is acrostic/rhyming/sestina. If you want to look up styles of poetry, go to shadowpoetry.com and look under resorces, you can find them all along with the specifications for each style!

I am pleased we have kick-started your muse
(I spotted the sestina but couldn't immediately remember what it was called! Would have responded sooner but have been away for 48 hours but am back now)

I figured you must be gone as I hadn't seen you or Leanne on the site for several days. I also did one titled 'Upside Down Now' another A-Z sonnet but done backwards. You both definitley awakened my muse!!
