The Reading

Spurious Being

It was shortly after dusk
Silently he entered her room
She slept
Dead to all intents
Without a care
He peeled back the covers
Lay behind her
His voice husky with lust
He spoke
Violence and lust abounded
As he uttered his musings to her
A slight murmur her only response
As he continued
He leant closer
His body cradling as she leant back into him
His lips now only an inch from her ear
With each word
His breath caressed her neck

Throughout the night he spoke
Her movements only slight
Enough to expose more neck
To his breaths gentle stroke
His words spoke fear
They revealed his pain
Revelled in violent rage
They bled it seemed
Love and lust are mixed with the pain
Words of suffering
Uttered without shame

As the first birds started calling
Dawn but moments away
She trembled
Softly at first
Gradually building
Soon her entire body quaked
He could see a smile on her lips
Her breathing came in gasps
Yet still she slept

Smiling
Knowing that she loved his words
He whispered tremulously
"I love you"
Leaving as silently as he had entered
