An image
Unintended
Yet tragically evoked
By such simple words
Of a possible future
For when it does matter

Upon the barren ground
Lay my withered heart
I reach to pick it up
The dry breeze of my movement
Causes the brittle remnants
To crumble and disperse
Carried off beyond the shadows

I will risk this bloodless image
For what is the loss of love
To one long dead
