Desire

He got home late
aware of her presence
he's lustful
full of playful menace
that devilish grin
brooding eyes
tilt of head
unseen by her
she sleeps
content to be there
his bed
his home
their smells

Naked
he slides under the covers
nestling against her
from behind
remembering "The Kiss"
her eyes full of bliss
not his intention
he hardens as she stirs

Both endure
minutes pass
the heat builds between them
his hand strays to her thigh
he kisses her shoulder
as she turns her head
lips parted in a sigh

he holds her tight
she trembles
he gulps for air
afraid to breath
lest he lose the moment
simple tenderness
horny but inactive
loving and gentle
blissful

They awake at dawn
neither has moved
sleeping in each others embrace
they have satisfied
their ultimate desire
simply to be together
for one night.
