Fire & Ice II

She Knows

He dreams of a past
buried in ice
hidden from his waking self
of days spent in love
of life and of others
times of peace
before they were torn asunder

Laughter is the only constant
in this life of the forlorn
once jovial and hearty
now sinister and devilish

A heart once broken
mended, will still shatter
is he beyond repair
to him it hardly matters

yet he dreams of a trickle
moisture on the rise
the shattered parts are melting
there's warmth on the inside

A gentle touch
a knowing smile
so little yet so much
this young woman
has awoken oh so much

Will he let this
all come to pass
or die inside
with an evil laugh?

It's hard to say
you never do know
where stolen moments
will have you go.

As he awakens
troubled of mind
a gentle smile
within his eyes
fear and tension
knot his brow
why these feelings
why right now?

He should be frozen
locked up inside
No one to enter
his bitter mind

But here she is,
all he can see
she's unlocked his heart
and handed back the key
