Wisdom

I looked up & you were there,
I hadn't a notion or a guess.
How was I to know how important you were?
Fed me, clothed me, taught me respect.
I know we disagree on many things,
But you made me the man I am.
When time comes for my passing
Let it be said I was my Fathers Son.
A man of compassion and insight.
Devoid of guile and full of righteousness.
I was taught by a great man;
A benevolent and wise man.
You have given me understanding
And a desire to learn,
You gave me peace when my heart burnt.
I know words are never enough,
But words are all I have,
I'm yet to be the man you are....
Wise and loving
