
If you DON'T learn form poetry then you haven't even begun to touch on the writing process. However, I would hate to think it was relegated to just a teaching aid.

I agree with you Leanne. I love the villanelle. We have also worked with sonetts and sestinas this semester. I believe one can learn a lot about their own writing style and habits through the constaints of form poetry. I had such a great time with the sestina that I wrote quite a few of them before I settled on one to turn in for group workshop.
