Halloween

Draft

Howl at the broken windows
where the left-handed boys
cast their sinister stones
toward our pregnant darkness

The rage is not enough without
the sound, the sound is everything
but empty still without the fat ire
of our homeless heartless love

reckless boys have stomped
sidewalks and sprayed their chatter
under October's streetlight
Still

The night is only a crack
between our hearts
The stars are only a crash
of buick into guardrail

Howl, the beer has flushed
our livers. The boys have stolen
every piece of peace and we
are still

reckless when we lift
the windows up and scream
for help, for hope
for despair.

The fear is everything
to those feckless fools as
their chocolate falls to the street
they run.
