More in Release the Hounds

the path to the old arch bridge in westford

draft

It was twenty years ago on October 1st
she wore the brightest tightest
 purple jeans i've ever seen.

She said nothing, as i drove
my blue Volkswagen rabbit
towards the church parking lot
where we could park then walk.

i said,"Honey, i love you."
It was enough with a kiss
to secure the moment for posterity.

We ambled then, her black shoes
scuffing in the first long shadows
and the newly dead grass,

out into the red, gold, and orange leaves
for a secluded place to finger fuck ourselves
into our first fall together.

I really identify with the imagery, situation and mood of this, and the intimacy and setting is exciting and emotional.

Why is "i" smaller than "October" and "Honey" for instance? I image in't to de-emphasize the "i" but in fact --don;t you think it draws more attention to itself... okay...maybe I am out of the loop and everyone else knpows you've explained this ad-nauseum? Oh well... one more time
