wanting to be
remembered,

something more
than just a number

I wrote a book.

now, once a year
they come to visit

my quiet resting
place, lingering

but a moment

call number inventoried,
reshelved

I return
to collecting dust.

Love the depth and perspective of both the photo and the poem. I've got your number. A treaure to behold (and hold in hand).

In this poem I appreciate not only the touching tip of the cap toward immortality

Love the title and the touch of wey humor...Not wanting to be "just a number"--you became one! hee hee

Kathabela: thanks so very much, Kathabela! you are always so 'dead on' with your responses to my "stuff." And, I am so honoured that you have a copy of my book and have read so much that I have written ... it is VERY much appreciated! Thanks again, and CHEERS!

wonderful title, now that I've read the piece... lovely sense of humour you seem to have. photo is gorgeous - MY university library was call the "Shelves" you went underground (7 levels maybe, hmmm) to the most unearthly quiet of the very serious periodical studier (I swear you'd never even hear pages turning).

I'm writing a book, and greatly look forward to the huge influx of cash and being stopped on the street for my autograph - and of course the adoring groupies....

I like the poem's simple style and directness. obviously makes the broader stmt about life and all that (but you know that, you wrote it). I wonder if "I wanted" might make a better start....

Nicely done.
