This is a really fascinating little piece. The tone works. The form actually heighten the effect as well.

More in Kat's poetry My Cousin's BrotherA true story.....really.
my cousin's brother was the baby of the family, named junior, which his family never called him, they called him a different nickname, which he liked just fine until he grew-up and joined the marines, just like his father, became a drunk, just like his father, then slept with other women even though he was married, just like his father, but he never fucked a nun, like his father did, as far as I know, but that's not the kind of thing you just go around talking about, unless he was going to marry the nun, again - like his father, who left his wife and children to have sexual relations with the nun, which raises an interesting question, when did my cousin's brother's father believe that he really wanted to know her in the biblical sense, or was it not his mind that first had that thought, and then at what point did the nun have the same thought, and when did they share with each other those sacred thoughts, the desire to be one, the lust; and since she was a teacher at the catholic school his children attended, perhaps it was during back-to-school night when parents meet the teachers, to say hello and talk about history and math and even religion, so maybe that's when they decided to do it, to screw, to fuck, to commit adultery, and was it at the church, I wonder, or in his car, or in a cheap motel somewhere outside town, so his wife and three children wouldn't know, at least not right away, because they did know, when he, the father of the brother of my cousin, decided to leave his family for the nun, and she also decided to leave her church for the father of one of her student's, and what did she tell herself at night, I wonder; anyway, to skip ahead two or three decades, my cousin's brother (yes I know, he's my cousin, too) is still married, to his 2nd or 3rd wife and he's sober too, again, and, despite himself, his father is still married to the sister, his step-mother.....the end.
