Saving the world

draft
i noticed Rome burning

just the other millenium

a frog on a lilypad
smirking with a smoke

"Sir, real?" he asked me
i said nothing.

"you are
a poet."

"Yes. I am,"
i said.

"It is time for you
to sing." he croaked.

Death is so simple for you
frog, i thought. looking

at his cold green corpse and
the last ember of his doobie.

Rome burns.
Rome burns.

Death is so simple for you
frog, i thought. an echo

"You are
a poet."

Very cool . . . a little Alice in Wonderland, a little shamanic,  a little Kenny Rogers . . . and very relevant.  The turns of phrase are fun.  Sir real sums it up.
