Firstly, welcome! Secondly, do not be intimidated. Your voice is just as important as anyone else's -- but the only way to make it louder is by exercising it, so yell whenever you feel like it
Don't be afraid to ask questions. In fact, once you start asking it's actually hard to shut us up. It certainly sounds like you've got plenty to write about, so make yourself at home!

Welcome!
The monkeys may bark,
The monkeys may bite
But their bark is always
Worse than their bite.
Just don't stick your fingers in their cages

Glad you made it over, Janelle! You have a unique perspective and a beautiful voice. Share it!

Welcome Janelle!
And regardless what Leanne and Jen say -- be afraid, be very afraid. Many of these monkeys are mentally unstable. They're likely to steal your hat OR throw poop at you. It's a dangerous world. We are living in a Simian World, and they are both Simian girls.

Welcome Janelle! I am glad you are here. It is a wonderful place to learn about writing. I know what you mean about feeling intimidated sometimes, there are alot of very profcient and knowledgeable writers here, and I too often feel out of my league, but I struggle through and realize that it is a place where you will find those very same people willing to help you with any kind of literary problem. I know what it is like to think I have little to contribute to this site, but everyone has been so helpful. Feel free to send me an e-mail (On my profile page)if you need any help at all.
Welcome again! Laurie

Thank you all!! Now that I went ahead and posted a couple of things, I am not quite so scared I know it will feel good to have an outlet to express some things. I appreciate the warm welcome!!
