More in Release the Hounds

teenagers in a hurricane

Draft
a whisp of yearning
winds "tell me a story" around my thumb
to remember cool fucks
by candle light
after warm september hurricanes

oh yes, oh yes
oh yes - listen dear, listen to
the whispering

of the children
who can not know
purple rage thrusting
through soft wet pink

oh no, oh no
oh no -- i'm coming dear,
i'm coming

the purring wind
rattles the windows
like a passing mac truck

tell me a story,
not any story
but that story
the one of that cool fuck
before anyone knew
we

and whispering winds

tell me a story
of a kiss on a neck
on a body slick with sweat

of a long moment
hidden amidst fear
and dire straits

so far away from now
whispering winds
screaming out loud
the story of we

One thing you do particularly well in your work is writing about marriage or long term relationship.  That's not such an easy topic to write about because it isn't an instant or a feeling . . . it's a lifetime and a dynamic.  But you seem to narrow it down in a really great way.    And the term "fuck" in the context of marriage is really quite cool (even if it is just a memory!)

Thank you. I like to combine a lot of things to get the general effect. I really haven't had that many romantic relationships in my life. Just 3 really. So, i extrapolate and add elements of fantasy, imagination and yes elements of reality too. I don' tknow if I'm any good at it, but I do try.
