testicles

righteous wrath and brandy
flowing toward the floor
while I wait with bated breath
and anticipate the death
of something somewhere down
by my gallbladder
or my kidney stones
or lower still where my courage
claims its domain hangs.
principle seems to be
the strength that holds me
shoulder to shoulder
with men and women
who I hardly know
and never agree with anything
no matter how likely it is
they'll see I'm right
and i had the testicles
to stand tall.
