More in Renewal & Pompous Decisions

admonishing my students for false scholarship

..

piss, i tell you, piss & shit
on art for art's sake
until their prattle drowns
in your salty yellow lake

ahh, those voiceless voices
echoing long words to masturbate
stubborn pride -- piss on them
too who might insinuate

art is holier than thou
than thee -- than me
i am, you am, we am
this, and everything that be

piss, i tell you, piss
and shit on those self
righteous fools too scared
too small to delve

into the green lush garden
where
art's for me
if you dare.

I'm so glad you've added the audio file option!  The rhyme in this piece is unobtrusive and natural overall.  Still, sometimes when reading other's work, especially structured stuff with end rhyme, we tend to pause too long at the linebreaks, strain to emphasize the rhyme.  So it's good to hear you read it with the flow you've intended.

Good news:  I read it how you read it.

Like I said, overall, it works.  THe only place where I'm not a fan of it here is in the last stanza: the "if you dare" at the end sounds to me like you're digging for a closer.  Also, in the same stanza, fyi, I kept wanting to read "lush green" instead of "green lush." Dunno why.  Anhow, what if you just dropped "if you dare"?

I would like to post copies of this piece around the art (and english, but more so art) department at my alma mater.  Send a few to a couple instructors too.  You should see "Art School Confidentia" if you haven't.  It's profane, but halariously so.
