Amy told me once that her friend Amy
is a bitch,
a cute bitch, but still a bitch
and that
if i were smart

I should stay away from her
which I have
though, I wondered
about how she might kiss

on the dock
after midnight

led zepplin playing
and our hearts skipping
every other beat for hours

or what would feel like hours
as we held on before diving into
eachother's mouths with the toothless bites
of hard-won lust wrapped in warm wool blankets
and the gleaming of the milkyway
over glassy black spring-fed waters.

I never mentioned this to Amy,

because she would not know
the taste of that kiss
or the smell of that skin
or the tickle of those fingertips
along my spine

and those
are really the only questions I had left
