More in Fooling Around

Freedom

... one has to wonder
at the red light
near the Rourke Bridge
(built in 1983, and
called temporary,
but long since relegated
to inevitable forever)

the old unbuttered-toast man
in the threadbare fedora
sits in his chocolate Crown Vic
and picks his fat greek nose
as he bops to silent music

fine view... and love the different kinds of "freedom" you're talking about in the two poems. both on the outside...i.e. a breaking out of the usual bonds
