the dead grass
Self-explanatory
In the morning, I will check along the edge
of the concrete wall, and in front of the nasty
overgrown shrubs for some sign
that everything isn't hopeless
there are no buds on the branches
and the only grass there is dead
and brown
i look every day
for some small sign of green
it is April
and i keep expecting
spring.
