an insomniac writing poetry at 4:43am

The last stanza is absolutely embarrassing.

under the darkness where the silly thoughts lay
are all the odd things we're too afraid to say
like 'love you' and 'need you' and 'want you so bad'
like 'don't hurt me' 'don't leave me' 'you make me so glad'

under the pillow where we all hide our tears
next to the blanket wrapped round all our fears
in the drawer in the table right next to the bed
I keep finding those things I wish I weren't all said

but they're all hanging out there, for everyone to see
a tight little ponytail reveals the sad face of me
they're all painted broadly on the side of my dreams
I'm not so brave as you might think I seems
