Haiku: series 07-01

1.
a long rough stone wall
winds through evergreen forest
two bluejays scream

2.
a chipmunk scurries
along the snow covered rocks
no food to be found.

3.
scarecrow on the ground
rotting and full of field mice
a crow pecks his eyes.

4.
footsteps lead downhill
to skaters on the millpond
red scarf on a rock

5.
canada geese honk
as they pick through dry dead brush
skaters laugh nearby

6.
marybeth falls down
and bangs her knee on the ice
canada geese honk

7.
in the white cottage
grandmother boils hot cocoa
outside geese honk

8.
log across the path
trips the boy in thick black pants --
holly grows thick here.

9.
dark brown frozen mud
large rocks and thick ice puddles
a coke bottle top

10.
steam atop blue mug
the smell of dark chocolate
but no marshmellow
