I like the dual insect play and the sly use of season. I might suggest a specific tree type rather than the specific number of leaves. BUT, I don't think there's anything at all wrong with this. It's just a different choice in specificity.

I kind of like "two leaves" because it keeps the image down at a "microcosmos" (or maybe "Bugs Life") scale.

I don't disagree with that, however i think the specificity would allow a sharper image and depending on the tree selected, possible depth of meaning and symbolism.
