1.
large leaves
green stems growing slowly
asparagus by my feet

2.
large leaves
purple bulbus roots
sweet purple tongue-stains

3.
a blue cotton dress
tattered hem and many stains
the corn stalks die

4.
sunlight yellow
reflections of pink flesh
bad burns and summer

5.
a pickerel slides
the lilys bounce gaily
a green tent.

6.
inside the red bush
a fortress for bugs
and long dead sticks

7.
white bricks and mortar
erected and forgotten
hide yesterday's coal soot

8.
a dry turkey bone
hangs above the sink
uncracked.

9.
in the window box
fresh spearmint grows uncontrolled
a clean soothing smell

10.
grubs under wet logs
rotting compost and darkness
squirming for new food.
