the white cat wretching
wet grass in the cool spring dawn
a puddle reflects

2.
seven smooth dry stones
a path in the early morn
a curved river

3.
dead leaves rustle by the brook
swollen floods from spring.

4.
smashed green glass
long reeds hum and sway
the dew is silent.

5.
sweat, stillness, black bugs
the crack of a swatting hand
gold sun over the mountain

a loon calls
deer and bambi wait for silence

a tanned hand holds fish
the summer ends
blood in the lungs.

shadows dance and shrink
the sun dips behind a cloud
a shiver.

orange
a fish jumps through the reflection.

oatmeal boils nearby
the door slides open loudly
the boat rocks gently

a large lab barks
orange dirt falls to the road
a mosquito buzzes.

a drop of rain splashes
the cold rocks shade the puddle

a beech tree sways
a squirrel finds the feeder.

winter grows near
