Monkey in the middle

There are monkeys in my pocket wearing fake red nails
dancing on the dreams of a dozen snails
There are monkeys in my raincoat doing a zebra dance
they want to go to vegas if they get the chance
There are monkeys in the middle of my every day
and they just won't leave no matter what I say
I poke the little monkeys with my finger twice
then the momma monkey says, "Girl, ya better be nice"
Being nice is a thing the monkeys never do
guess they learned it all by watching me and you
There are monkeys in the bottom of my panty draw
using all my toys and breaking some laws
There are monkeys at the top of the attic stairs
doing nasty things but I don't seem to care
There are monkeys at the end of our bed
telling me they're leaving, makes me feel half dead
I hug the little monkeys and I start to cry
I'll miss the little bastards, but I dont' know why
There are monkeys in the middle by the big old lake
they moved far away so I could forget my mistakes
Being happy is the thing that the monkeys do
pretty sure they didn't learn it from me and you.
