praying wrong

i was in a hurry
trying to scootch out one last thought
before they all dried up
and she suggested I pray

i was pretty sure I didn't have time
but, since God wasted his time making me
I figured
"hell, i'll make a moment for the big guy."

"Dear God," i prayed --- because I like to start that way
sort of 'letterish'

"Dear God,
please help me smite my enemies,
please help me crush all the people who stand before me
and my happiness.
Please help all the fools who would thwart my will
fall down before me in fear and anguish.

Oh, yeah, thanks for the world and everything.

Jesus rocks!"

So far, no luck with that.

Ummmm, just a suggestion from an extremely spiritually evolved person. You might trying adding, at the end of every prayer, "Thy will, if it be MINE, be done." You may have heard another version of this, but that one's complete rubbish. I think the shepard respects the sheep who stands on his own two feet. Cool poem, baaaa the way...C....

There's a little bit of God in everyone, just ask any tyrant.

I love the word "tyrant", mostly because "rant" is in it, but also because if I say it like this, sounding "tear-ant", I picture a little ant crying to have its way and I think that's an apt visual for what tyrants truly are deep down. I was thinking "gee, there are so many sheep, I'll have to look for a tyrant." But then I thought the opposite is actually the case. And then I imagined that a tyrant must have some vision he imposes in order to truly be a genuine tyrant and I don't think there are that many folks with vision, much less purpose, energy, enthusiasm, tenacity and the downright brutality required to do the job right....C
