I am thinking of something
but I can't tell
what yet I think
it might be concord grapes
purple growing on a chainlink fence
not far from a sumac patch.

but not spring
notspring but notsummerfall either
it's more inbetween
when ok is everythingisok
and no one is really worried
where the mortgage will come from next week

I'm not sure that's what i'm thinking about
because
I can't smell the boiling sugar and fruit
i can't see the purple stains on my finger tips
or feel the wax
that I can put over it all when I pour it in the mason jars
so, maybe i'm not thinking of that at all
