anticipating the moment when everything stops


i took the red ball
and bounced it on the floor
so that it hit the ceiling
and bounced back with tremendous force

for a second
i wished i understood the math
that explains the friction and the way the forces interact

you always tell me it doesn't matter
i don't need to know exactly when it'll all come to a stop

somehow though
