A Man Falls Asleep Whilst Reading de Sade

Plures Mens

So he died

Eyes dulled with age
A last weary breath

Memories rushing forth
Insignificant in their scope

A glimpse of a thigh

The tears of a lover

The smell of roasting meat

Colours

Such colours
As would shame a rainbow

And blood

Reams of blood

He remembers you

Your taste
Lilies fragrant on your breath
A wistful smile
Lustful satisfaction within your eyes

Deeds undone
Plans ill formed
Adorn the breadth of his vision

Screams
Curdle and resonate

Until

The memories slow

Fade

And so

He died
